Saffy (Kathy) - Rescue Remedies UK

Picture
We do not know much about her except she only now has a name and was up to this point known as number O7 at the pound.  Staffies are generally given 7 days to be homed at the pound otherwise they are put to sleep.

She is a brindle bitch and really needs our help.  She is calm and friendly and loves a fuss.  The pound introduced her to another dog and she didn't react too badly.  Bless her, the young bitch wanted to play with her but she didn't want to know and was a bit grumpy with her.  We think she would be OK with a calm dog and good introduction methods.  She is such a nice girl. She has severe hair loss around her back, rump and tail and the skin is dry and toughened.

KATHY

Both Frank and Kathy will continue to need prolonged kennelling before they can be considered for homing due to their mange/extreme skin conditions and general welfare.  The cost of that kennelling and specialist veterinary attention will be high.  We will continue to support them both until they find their forever homes.

Update 11/Just wanted to give you a little update on Kathy (now renamed Saffy as per the microchip we found in her! We reverted to her original name as she responds to it well.  Amazing that the name is so close to Kathy the name we gave her)!Saffy is still with Dee & John in foster, but unfortunately she has been back to the vet as her spay site has become infected.  She is now on a course of antibiotics. Her skin remains dry on her little bald spots so her foster mum has just started using E45 to see if that helps clear it up.Aside from that she is loves visitors popping in, gets excited, but soon settles. She does do a little tail chasing when excited, but can usually be distracted. She is also very food focused which is no surprise when you think about thin she was - but she takes treats beautifully.
I know it is wrong but we would love a home that is going to ruin her and are prepared to spend lots of time cuddling and fussing her.

Update 22/12

Aw our lovely Saffy. What can i tell you about this little girl that is not known????
She is such a gorgeous critter, within minutes steals your heart. Had such a heavy life but things on the up for her now.  Recovered well from her spay (Nov 18) and doing well with Marmaduke (Boxer X). They have had several plays. She is a little bossy with him at times, but to be fair Marmaduke a very young dog. He takes it all in good part and so lovely to see them running round the garden together.  She doesn't seem to have much idea of play although definitely Marmaduke can get her running and chasing him easily enough.  Has the usual Staffie trait of not liking to get her paws wet, but eventually braved it long enough to go have a wee. We currently have snow on the ground in England. She is sleeping in her crate a lot (door is open), but it is near the fire and John has 2 lots of vet bedding to make it soft and cosy.  Not great pictures of her again so sorry - two of them snug in her crate and chasing Marmaduke!
